World Superbike India Round Postponed to November 2013
The breaking news of the week is the postponement of the Indian round of World Superbike Championships from March 10th to November 17th as the final round of the year. This leaves the Indian superbike fans to wait for 10 more months to see the worlds fastest superbikes racing in Indian soil.
There were speculations for the past few days about the Indian round which is now officially postponed to the end of the season in November by FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme)
FIM’s official statement says: “The World Superbike race in India has been moved from the 10 March to the 17 November due to an insufficient period of time to properly finalise the training of the marshals and medical staff around the racetrack. FIM representatives will be at the Indian track on 19, 20 and 21 this January, in order to carry out the final racetrack homologation and provide the relevant seminars about the different aspects involved in the sporting organisation of the event.”
As the official statement from FIA states lack of readiness for the event, international media stated other reasons.
Few days ago GPone.com raised doubts with the Indian round as there is difficulty with the handing over of the racing equipments to the Indian Customs 14days before the scheduled Indian round while the Australian round would be taking place exactly 2weeks before the Indian round and its impossible to transport the machines on the very same day from Australia to India. This issue went unnoticed in the transition of the recent takeover of the World Superbike Series by Dorna, which also runs the MotoGP World Championships.
This Superbike round was supposed to be the first ever motorcycle race to be held in the prestigious Buddh International Circuit and the first ever world championship motorcycle event in Indian soil.
The postponed date is also good for Indian fans as the final round of the year could be very interesting if the championship runs to the wire.
